Shigeo Nakamura is a researcher, innovator, and business leader whose career at ���򾺲��Ƽ� spans over three decades. In 2025, he became the ���򾺲��Ƽ�’s first CEO with a technical background, a testament to his ability to bridge research, business, and global strategy to drive sustainable growth.

Nakamura’s fascination with technology and innovation led him to the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he earned his Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Technology in 1992. That same year, he joined ���򾺲��Ƽ�’s Central Research Laboratory, where he began his career in electronic materials R&D—an emerging business segment at the time.

In 1996, he began research on what would become a breakthrough innovation: ���򾺲��Ƽ� Build-up Film (ABF), a high-performance insulation material for packaging substrates of semiconductors. In 2011, he received the Chemical Technology Award from the Chemical Society of Japan for his contributions, followed by the Porter Prize in 2012 for ABF’s business strategy.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Nakamura fulfilled a childhood dream of studying abroad by becoming a visiting researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara from 2004 to 2006. Later, in 2020, he pursued an MBA at Bond University in Australia, strengthening his business acumen. His career expanded into business leadership, first as Manager of ‘Research Institute for Bioscience Products & Fine Chemicals, Materials Development Laboratories in 2016, then as President of ���򾺲��Ƽ� Fine-Techno Co., Inc. (AFT) in 2019, where he gained deeper experience in corporate strategy and operations.

In 2022, Nakamura shifted from technology to global business, becoming Executive Officer & Vice President, General Manager of the Latin America Division, and President of AJINOMOTO DO BRASIL INDUSTRIA E COMERCIO DE ALIMETOS LTDA. Immersed in the food business, he saw firsthand how the ���򾺲��Ƽ�’s products, when combined with food ingredients that are deeply rooted in the local areas, can enhance nutrition and food ecosystems worldwide.

Now, as CEO, Nakamura’s leadership is shaped by his technical foundation, global business experience, problem-solving mindset and deep familiarity with the ���򾺲��Ƽ�’s philosophy, values and history. He is committed to leveraging the ���򾺲��Ƽ�’s DNA, implementing the High-speed Development System, cultivating an organizational culture that welcomes challenges, and driving new innovations in “AminoScience” to enhance the well-being of all human beings, our society, and our planet.
